Technicalities

• Appearance: A small, very old dragon; he is quadrupedal, and has large but useless wings. He is grayish-green, a shade evolved to blend in with moss and rocks.
• Personality: Rather cow-like; he does not much care about what is going on, particularly in his current, post-reproductive age. He possesses a large stock of knowledge, but cannot speak. Not needing to eat in the same way as most of the surrounding creatures, his species has evolved to be walking fortresses, so they do not need to interact with others much. He does not mind being led around and made to perform tasks so long as he occasionally comes in contact with enough radioactive material to sustain him.
• Backstory: He is very old and has thus seen a lot of Mushroom Kingdom history. Once the mascot of a university, he would "breathe fire" for show at sporting events (someone would hold a lighter in front of his hydrogen/oxygen fission breath), and in his spare time he would read books provided to him by the professors. After recognizing that he growled whenever reading a grammar mistake, one of the professors invented a helmet that allowed him to mentally annotate the books, and he became known amongst the staff as an organic grammar-correcting machine. He was with the university for many generations, but about a hundred years ago, he was carried away to the wilderness by frat boys, and took up residence in a cave outside of Toad Town, where he hoarded the radioactive metals upon which his species feeds. When Toad Town expanded closer to his cave, it was discovered and made into a tourist attraction: a mound of gold was added to perpetuate the myth that dragons hoard gold, and several radios were installed for his entertainment, keeping him up to date on news and popular culture. Immediately prior to the events of the game, he was carried to a party in Toad Town by men going through midlife crises.
• Trivia: He is nuclear-powered, meaning that he does not need food to survive. This fission process breaks water in his belly into hydrogen and oxygen, which he can breathe out; if there is a source of fire, he can breathe on it to create the illusion of fire breath. He is cold-blooded, hence his weaknesses to fire and ice. Like a cow, he can climb up stairs, but not down them.
