Information: A pointy black hat used by inexperienced magicians to cast spells.
Whacking enemies over the head with it will not do any good at all.
Name: Magic Wand
Type: Magic
Element: None
Ailment: None
Power: Magic x1 (+1 for chosen user, -1 for thief)
Hits: 1
Information: A wooden stick with a magical artifact (such as unicorn tail hair,
dragon heartstring, or Veela hair) at its core. It allows the user to cast magical spells, but
every wand is a little bit different physically, and each one chooses its favorite user. If the
wand and the user match, magic attacks deal +1 damage; if they do not match, and if the wand was
not won from its chosen user in battle but rather stolen or found lost, then magic attacks deal
-1 damage. If the wand did not choose the user but was won by defeating its chosen user in battle,
magic attacks deal their normal amount of damage. If the chosen user steals it back instead of
winning it, the +1 and -1 will even out to normal damage as well.
Name: Sling Ring
Type: Magic
Element: None
Ailment: None
Power: Magic x1
Hits: 1
Information: A two-fingered ring used by the disciples of Kamar-Taj. It's a
mystical artifact that specifically decreases the difficulty of transportation-based spells cast
by the user, making it more useful in the field than in battle. In the field, a properly trained
magician can use it to conjure portals rimmed with orange sparks, allowing many field obstacles
to be bypassed entirely. If the ring is lost or unequipped, this bonus goes away, making portals
much harder to conjure and maintain even with the necessary training.
Name: Roach Tome
Type: Magic
Element: None
Ailment: None
Power: Magic x1 (Projectile)
Hits: 1
Information: The book used by the Watcher,
the cockroach mummy... robot... that serves as the boss of the Sand Castle in Chapter 4 of
Bug Fables. It levitates in front of his hand, so I went ahead and assumed that it
could be made to fly at someone for its basic attack. The Watcher used some Elemental spells, but
the book itself is Elementally neutral.
Name: Ancient Crown
Type: Magic
Element: None
Ailment: None
Power: Magic x2
Hits: 1
Information: The crown worn by the Wasp
King, the main antagonist of Bug Fables. In truth, the king is a fly named Hoaxe
who usurped the wasp throne, thanks in part to this crown, which is an ancient artifact that the
roaches threw out, only to be fished up later by an old merchant on Metal Island. The crown
helped bring out Hoaxe's natural magic, which eventually became the nigh-unstoppable fire magic
of the Wasp King. He was also able to brainwash the majority of the wasps into following him
whether they believed him to be their true king or not, but unlike with Cave Story's
Demon Crown, this didn't seem to be an ability inherent to the crown itself, so a simple headbutt
with it won't do all that much in Arpeggio.
Name: Demon Crown
Type: Magic
Element: None
Ailment: None
Power: Magic x4 (Projectile)
Hits: 1
Information: The artifact at the center of Cave Story's plot, a crown
commissioned by Misery and built by Ballos, but worn (and its power wielded) by the Doctor. It
has a red eye on it similar to the eyes of Presses, and its main power seems to be forced control
of others, namely all Ravils and (as a result of a curse
by Ballos) Misery and Balrog. This could potentially be extended to any character suffering the
Feral status, and punishment for
disobedience could simply be Instant
Death (with revival not breaking the control). Beyond this, while wearing it in battle the
Doctor used various red energy attacks, but some of these may have been tied more to the red
crystal than the crown; I'm saying here that the crown can fire a red energy shot for its basic
attack, but anything more elaborate would have to be a magic spell, so the crown counts as a
magic weapon.
