Information
A pale spider found in Boggly Woods. It uses its webbing to climb to high places and to attack opponents. It's not very powerful, but Punies flee from it on sight.
Notes
- In battle, a Pider sits on a vertical line of web, keeping it off the ground. Due to this, it mechanically counts as semi-flying: earthquakes will miss it, but it doesn't take extra damage from bows. Its actual height varies; to mimic Paper Mario 2, it would start out at a height of either 1 or 9, and at the end of every turn, without using up an action, it would switch to the other one of these, continually alternating. In Arpeggio, it would be possible to give it height values in between, making things a bit more interesting. Players in Arpeggio are also likely to attempt to cut the web string: this can be accomplished with anything except for a psychic attack, since the web doesn't have a mind to target, and will result in the Pider falling to the ground and counting as a normal groundbound enemy until the next Enemy Phase, at which point it will create a new web string without using up its turn. Piders don't take Long Fall damage from their webs being cut regardless of how high up they were when it happened, and can't take Long Fall damage from anything while their webs are still up, but can if they're grounded.
